Neue Philharmonie Hamburg Opens a Season of 170 Concerts

From every German federal state to a 25-concert tour of China - the Neue Philharmonie Hamburg begins its new season with Vassily Sinaisky, Olga Peretyatko, Mischa Maisky and Marcelo Álvarez among its guests.

The Neue Philharmonie Hamburg opens its new season with 170 events in the calendar - one of the busiest concert years in the orchestra's history. Performances will take place in all German federal states and in Switzerland, with major appearances in Berlin, Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Basel and Zurich alongside the orchestra's home programme in Hamburg.

The season's largest single project is a tour of China comprising 25 concerts, conducted by guest conductor Boris Barinov.

Founded in 2003 by violinist and producer Tigran Mikaelyan, the Neue Philharmonie Hamburg has become one of the most vibrant players in the city's cultural life. The orchestra performs at Hamburg's major venues — the Elbphilharmonie and the Laeiszhalle - where it has built a devoted following over the years, and appears regularly on Germany's most prestigious stages, among them the Berlin Philharmonie, the Leipzig Gewandhaus and the Alte Oper Frankfurt. It also tours worldwide, with appearances in France, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, China, South Korea, Japan and many other countries.
