Yuri Martynov

Piano

Biography

Yury Martynov is one of the most interesting and versatile Russian musicians of his generation. His performance combines the best traditions of the Russian piano school and the WesternEuropean keyboard school with his unique personality. There are very few performers in the world who master such a variety of instruments in so many styles.

Yury Martynov performed the Russian premier of Bach's entire "Well-Tempered Clavier" on Clavichord and was the first to perform a number of solo and chamber works of the Renaissance, Baroque and early Classicism eras on period instruments.

The discography of Mr. Martynov includes several CDs recorded and released on famous Russian and foreign record labels. He is the first (and only musician at the moment) who recorded Beethoven’s complete symphonies in Liszt’s transcription for Piano solo on the instruments of that time (Erard circa 1837 and Blutnher circa 1867).

The CDs released by OUTHERE-music label were mentioned by the most prestigious Magazines: Diapason d’Or, BBC Monthly choice, 5 stars, The Guardian, Choc de la musique, Classica Magazine, among others. Mr. Martynov's recording of Beethoven-Liszt’s Ninth Symphony is included in the official Top Ten CDs of the year 2016 by The Guardian.
